For starters and as you may have noticed, I’ve given my author website a complete facelift. Brand new look, feel, and tighter navigation.
But, before I get into the personal stuff, I wanted to mention that January is still the very best month to dive into the Eldros Legacy! Until the end of the month, a free edition of Khyven the Unkillable will be available from StoryOriginApp.com that you can download to any device. Todd Fahnestock kicks off this massive, epic fantasy series with his Legacy of Shadows, which has a log of overlap with my series Legacy of Deceit, which is about to get its second installment. We’ve already published eight books in our first year, and we’re just getting started!
Now, we still have folks asking us what the Eldros Legacy is. Imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but done as an epic fantasy series from various authors working in concert. We’ve got our own heroes, each with their own story, but those individual stories are building to one epic confrontation.
Our four primary series (Legacy of Shadows, Legacy of Deceit, Legacy of Dragons, and Legacy of Queens), all set the stage for our own “End Game” moment. And all of this is written for fans of Dungeons & Dragons, Lord of the Rings, and any other fantasy fiction you care to mention.
We’ve placed the entire series in Kindle Unlimited, so there’s no reason not to dive in today.
Who Loves Indian Food?
Now that the commercial is out of the way, I wanted to share with everyone one of my recent food successes. As some of you know, I fancy myself a fairly accomplished cook. As a result, I have a growing list of recipes on my author site. The latest addition—a dish I’ve been making for a couple years now—is an East Indian lamb (or goat) dish that is a blend of both Rogen Josh and Vindaloo that I call “Lamb / Goat Vindaloo Rogen Josh Hybrid.”
It’s a fairly simple crockpot recipe that uses pre-made spice blends, so it’s very easy to make.
Whether you already LOVE Indian food at home or you’re looking to try your hand at it in your own kitchen, here’s a fairly easy how-to with step-by-step instructions and a few options to make things easier. Check out my Lamb / Goat Vindaloo Rogen Josh Hybrid for your next family meal. I’ll bet everyone loves it.
Knives Are an Old Passion and New Hobby
I’ve always loved knives. Since I was a kid. You could even call it an obsession. At last count, I had about 30 different knives in my desk drawer. I know, I know. That’s a little weird, but there’s nothing like the simple perfection of one of mankind’s oldest tools.
About a year and a half ago, my wife and I discovered Forged in Fire. You’ve probably heard this story before, but watching that set it in my head that it might be something I could do on my own. So, last Christmas, my wife got me a little project kit from Mancrates.com. It was their Stacked Leather Dagger Making Kit. Now, it took me almost a year to get to it (I had a lot going on last year) but over Christmas (to help me stay sane as we re-launched Eldros Legacy under our own imprint) I started working on it.
I finished it last week, knife, sheath, and all, and I gotta say, I’m HOOKED. So, as a result, I’m going to be taking some classes, getting some equipment, and training myself to become a bladesmith.
I plan on taking you all on that journey with me, and as a start here’s the end-result of my first knife build. Granted, I didn’t forge the steel, but I had to step outside the included instructions to complete the project, and I ended up using my existing leather skills to improve on their original design. So, here is Knife Build 001. I made a thing!
Don’t forget to follow me on my website and check out the growing list of free short stories I have on BookFunnel and StoryOrigin. I’m attacking 2023 with a vengeance!
