As you must be aware by now, the Covid-19 virus situation continues to affect nations and peoples around the world to varying degrees. As a result, a growing number of public events and venues in the United States have been altered or cancelled.
As it stands, I fully intend to participate in the conventions to which I have already made a commitment. However, I will not attend any others. This is a personal decision and should not be misconstrued as anything other than my choice to manage my own business as I deem appropriate. I will, naturally, take all reasonable precautions to prevent exposure and, were I to be exposed, prevent spreading the contagion further by removing myself from the venue.
Additionally, should any of these conventions choose to cancel their event, I will absolutely respect their choice to do so. They have to manage their own businesses and liabilities just like anyone else. While all cancellations are unfortunate, as they impact so many people, only the convention owners are in a position to assess what is and is not best for their current and future business needs.
It is my sincere hope that anyone who chooses to attend such public events does so safely, and if you do show up at the conventions I attend, feel free to stop on by and say hello. I won’t be shaking hands, but elbow-bumping or the age-old Vulcan greeting is always appreciated.
