Fellow author Todd Fahnestock and I were two of the four founders of the Eldros Legacy. Along with a number of other contributing authors, we’ve been working on an ever-growing series of fantasy novels all set in the same world. The protagonist in Todd’s series, Khyven the Unkillable, is a gladiator presented with impossible choices. Along the way, he started using a training sword he referred to as The Diplomat. Essentially, he used that when he didn’t want to kill his opponent.
To celebrate that character, Todd’s series, and the Eldros Legacy as a whole, I created my interpretation of The Diplomat. I had a blast working on it and am stoked about not only how it turned out but making one for myself.
The weapon is 50″ of seasoned black walnut, with a two-handed grip, an 18″ steel shaft through the grip and into the blade, and leather accents on both grip and above the guard. The Guard and pommel are blued steel, and I finished it with a katana-style wrap around the grip.
